Renovation Housing

Goal: Attractive accommodations for the care team ensure satisfaction and resilience and meets the needs of the increase in personnel
Target group: Nursing staff

New roofs and sanitary facilities

Many of the approximately 600 staff members working directly for HAS — and close to 1,000 when including helpers for World Central Kitchen (WCK*) — come from other regions of Haiti. For this reason, they are provided with accommodation on the HAS campus.

After many years in the tropical climate, 36 buildings had fallen into disrepair. These are residential units for healthcare staff, where the roofs in particular — as well as, in some cases, masonry, painting, and electrical systems — have been renovated. Where necessary, kitchens and bathrooms have been upgraded with proper sanitary facilities.

The renovation has also created additional living space for the recently expanded workforce. At the same time, the project aims to address the shortage of skilled workers by offering attractive housing to potential employees.

SPHASH financed this project with a budget of USD 165,000.
