Goal: To increase the bed capacity in the neonatal and pediatric units, improve workflow efficiency, and facilitate the implementation of hygiene measures.
Target group: Patients and their families, as well as staff of the neonatal and pediatric departments.
The solid structure, built in 1956, has withstood nearly 70 years of use and exposure to the elements. The inner masonry of the open-stone construction remains largely unchanged to this day. In order to meet the long-term, individual needs of sick newborns and children, a modern and spacious infrastructure must be created.
The renovation and expansion of the neonatology unit and parts of the pediatric ward will provide more space to accommodate the steadily increasing number of patients in recent years. At the same time, workflows and hygiene procedures will be significantly simplified, allowing for more efficient operations. Additionally, a dedicated area for breastfeeding mothers will be created near the neonatology unit.
Renovation work is already underway and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025 at the latest, to ensure operations in both departments continue with minimal disruption. The total cost of the renovation, including equipment and the purchase of various medical devices, amounts to USD 170,000.
