Goal: Medical care in the remote Artibonite regions is guaranteed and chronically ill patients receive their treatment
Target group: Pregnant women, chronically and acutely ill people in the remote Artibonite regions
Milestones: Chronically ill patients can be treated in their own homes, and pregnant women receive their routine check-ups without being exposed to the potential risks of travel
Thanks to the mobile clinics, people who live within 10 or 11 hours’ walk from the Tienne health center can be reached. Examinations and treatment are carried out by medically trained HAS staff. Local people are involved in the transportation of materials and medicines, which enables them to generate a small income.
Thanks to access to the mobile clinics, pregnant women and people with chronic conditions in particular, some of whom are dependent on long-term medication, experience enormous relief from their often-arduous everyday lives. This ensures the continuity of their treatment, and any pregnancy complications can be detected in time.
11,291 consultations were carried out via mobile clinics in 2024.
